Why the delay?

Because each patient community does not order the same amount of socks, we use a campaign period to determine how many pairs to produce.

These socks represent the inner superhero in all of us, but especially the people with Type One Diabetes and their caregivers and loved ones. Our JDRF One Walk team name is Team Spaceman Spiff, after Calvin from Calvin & Hobbes' hero alter ego. Spiff fights battle after battle every day with courage, just like our Calvin, and he has the scars to prove it, so the Spiff-esque character is flying into battle. T1D is re-imagined as one of the space hero's alien foes. The symbols "I > ^ v o" mean "I am greater than my highs, lows, and diabetes".

Team Spaceman Spiff's Socks to Stamp Out Type One Diabetes

Type One Diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease that commonly is diagnosed in childhood, but lasts a lifetime. Even with the amazing technology that we have today to keep our T1D loved ones alive, it is a life filled with monitoring, shots, doctors, and anxiety. T1D is relentless- 24/7/365- and so are we. We are fighting back so kids like our son, Calvin, who was diagnosed at 13 months old and is a real superhero, can not just survive but thrive. So, this fundraiser supports JDRF, because their research & development & advocacy are making an impact on Calvin & all people living with T1D's lives every day. JDRF funded advancements are allowing Calvin to do everyday things like go to daycare, take swim lessons, eat a piece of Halloween candy, fly to visit his great-grandmother- all things that not too far in the past he never would have been able to do. But he's still taking more than 2,190 shots a year to survive. JDRF is on the cusp of a cure for T1D- the future is now. Help us support this lifesaving, life changing reasearch, and rock these socks!
